Why Software Reliability?
In recent years, software failures have caused catastrophic failures in air traffic control systems, space probes, telephone
systems, and medical devices, just to name a few. Software failures are usually not easily predictable as hardware failures.
Hardware reliability assessment techniques are generally not applicable to software failures since its failure mechanism
is quite different, and requires extensive analysis using sophisticated tools and methodologies.
This company conducts research in new methodologies and techniques that would help in making software more reliable
and predictable.
Software Reliability Research, LLC is registered with the Central Contractor Registration (CCR). The

Some points to ponder about software reliability
"Finding and fixing a software problem after delivery is 100 times more expensive than finding it during the requirements
and design phase" - Barry Boehm - Software Defect Reduction Top 10 List, IEEE Computer.
"Without software measurement as a guide, significant improvements in software performance are unlikely, if not impossible.
- Capers Jones- Applied Software Measurement, McGraw-Hill.
"The cost of quality assurance might me as low as 2% in some consumer products and or as high as 80% in products such
as spaceships, nuclear reactors, and aircraft, where the cost of failure is measured in human lives - Boris Beiser- Software
System Testing and Quality Assurance, Van Nostrand Reinhold Co.
